My Must Haves

So, last week I posted about the new arrivals from J. Crew's Fall 1 collection. It was soooo good! Here are some of the pieces that I just can't do without. (I'm still working on some of them. Payday is Friday.) My pocketbook took a hit. But, boy was my closet happy! lol Throughout the season, I'll be posting on some transitional looks that can incorporate your new Fall pieces into your Summer wardrobe. :-)

Nicky top in herringbone
In the catalog, this blouse seems like a heavy herringbone wool. But, I was pleasantly surprised to find out how light it is. It's a gorgeous silk crepe de chine fabric. I can wear it now without burning up and then add some layers when it gets cooler.

Blythe blouse in polka dot

I never thought a neutral could stand out so much. If you're not big on graphic prints, this is an easy way to slide on in to the trend. The taupe on white combination makes this top super easy to wear with anything in your closet.

Liberty perfect shirt in assorted florals
I love this vintage Liberty print. It has a retro feel but still so fresh at the same time. I don't own too many $150 shirts, but this one is soooo worth it!

Tie-neck top in dot

This print also came in a pleated skirt and a dress. But, to me, the blouse is just enough. It's super sweet and when I put it on I feel a little Murphy Brown. :-) Plus, the cap sleeve is long enough so that you don't have to wear a sweater or jacket over it in the office.

Zigzag sequin tee
Are you kidding?

Schoolboy blazer in wool flannel
This caramel color is MAJOR!!

Bennett cropped chino in snowcat
I wore these to work immediately after I bought them with my Blythe Blouse in Neon Azalea. J'adore!

Garment-dyed camp pant
 Garment-Dyed Camp Pant
I already have (pre)buyers remorse about these. I really don't have a reason to buy another pair of colored pants. But, I feel like I'll quickly get over that once I bring them home and see how much of the items in my closet go with these. AND, they have a little stretch in them which is perfect for the cooler months as all the eating commences

No. 2 pencil skirt in snake print
I wore this to work on Saturday. I love it! It's a wool/silk blend which was great because its not too hot to wear it now.
No. 2 pencil skirt in double-serge wool

This is the ONLY color pencil skirt that I do not own. Now, my life is complete.

Valentina patent pumps
These are my favorite work shoes ever! I have them in leopard print and nude. I wear them so much and they're amazingly comfortable while standing for nine hours. It's only natural that I have them in black too.
Jayne T-strap ballet flats
I just bought last season's version of these on super sale and I'm extremely pleased that they re-released them. They're very comfy and are a cute spin on a classic ballet flat.

Janey patent flats
Eureka!!! I've been waiting for this shoe to hit our store for months. I got an email about these shoes in April and I've been pining for them ever since. I was worried that they would be a little uncomfortable (I don't like patent ballet flats) but these are fantastic!! And this is a really fun color. I don't need another pair of nude or black ballet flats. But, Warm Jade???? Yes, please!

Collection Icon trench
This baby isn't new to J. Crew but, it is new to my closet. I really needed a good transitional jacket. And there is nothing classier than a good ole (well fitting) trench coat.

My Space in Progress

So, in October of last year, I moved to Washington, DC. I moved into an apartment with Ashley (a close friend from undergrad). We have a cute little 2 bed 2 bath apartment in the northeast side of town. Its perfect for two young ladies. When I first moved here, I didn't have a job and I had very little savings. Since I'm a "responsible adult", I had to make a lot of decisions about what I wanted and what I needed. I decided that I probably shouldn't spend too much money on furnishing my bedroom and bathroom, without a job and savings. Right now, I only have a mattress and box spring and a floor lamp. That's it. I have a closet which holds some of my clothes and everything else is still in my suit cases.

I found a job in November (Thank God!). And I've been living rather modestly and saving up for the past  nine months. I wanted to make sure that I had my act together, before I start having fun with my space. I'm still on a very very VERY small budget. So, I'll be looking out for as many deals and savings as possible. And, I'll probably have to do some DIY projects too (yay!)

I want to share with you guys my journey to my new bedroom and bathroom. I hope you enjoy reading just as much as I enjoy decorating. This is my first attempt at interior decorating so, I welcome (and need) all tips and comments. Stay tuned!
